Recently, IEEE (Institute of electrical and Electronics Engineers), the world's largest professional technical organization, released IEEE global research: the impact of science and technology in 2022 and the future 。 According to the survey results, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and 5g technology will become the most important technologies affecting 2022, while manufacturing, financial services and health care industries will become the industries that benefit most from the development of science and technology in 2022.

IEEE (Institute of electrical and Electronics Engineers) has been committed to promoting scientific and technological progress to benefit all mankind. In this year's global survey, IEEE invited 350 CIOs (chief information officers) and CTOs from five countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, India and Brazil (Chief Technology Officer) and it director and other industry and technology leaders visited to summarize their professional opinions and jointly look forward to the most important technology trends in 2022 and the next decade.

In 2022, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and 5g technology will deeply change our lives

With the normalization of the epidemic, digital intelligence technology is reshaping people's way of life and work. According to the results of this global survey, the three technologies of artificial intelligence and machine learning (21%), cloud computing (20%) and 5g (17%) that have been rapidly developed and widely used in 2021 will also continue to play an important role in people's work and life in 2022.

Among them, 95% of global respondents believe that in the next five years, artificial intelligence technology will be applied to all aspects of our lives and promote innovation and progress in all walks of life; More than 40% of global respondents believe that by 2050, one-third to more than half of the world's jobs will be connected to artificial intelligence solutions.

Benefiting from the development of 5g technology, remote communication and transmission become more convenient, stable and efficient, which makes it possible for some industries with high requirements for sensitivity and stability of information transmission to further develop. In this regard, global respondents believe that, Telemedicine (24%), distance education (20%), communication (15%), entertainment, sports and live broadcasting activities (14%) and other industries will have greater development space in 2022. Dr. Dong Jing, senior member of IEEE and associate researcher of Institute of automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, agrees, "5g technology will bring benefits to social development in all aspects: with the normalization of the epidemic, distance education and telemedicine make social operation more efficient and all kinds of exchanges and assistance more timely and reliable; in the long run, 5g technology can also help us reduce our carbon footprint, improve energy utilization and promote the green process of society."

In this survey, 17% of Chinese respondents recognized the important impact of the development of AR / VR technology in 2022. According to the survey results, AR / VR is most commonly used in data visualization and 3D operation, followed by remote transmission and online conference. Ma Xin, an IEEE member, believes that the practical application of AR / VR technology will usher in a new breakthrough in 2022: with the support of 5g technology, AR / VR intelligent devices can migrate most of the data from the device to the cloud, making AR / VR intelligent devices portable and affordable; Among them, smart ar glasses can promote ar experience to a new level, and AR shopping, AR entertainment, AR navigation and AR conference will become a reality.

The next decade: a new era of closer cooperation between humans and robots

With the mass production and wide application of cooperative robots, robots will be able to participate in more and more important social work in the next 10 years. The IEEE global survey shows that more than 80% of respondents believe that a quarter of the work will be replaced by robots in the next five years. Chinese respondents have higher expectations for "human-computer interaction": 70% of Chinese respondents believe that robots will help them complete more than half of their work in the next 10 years.

When referring to the work field of robots, 77% of global respondents said that robots will be gradually deployed to enterprises in the next five years to engage in many businesses, including sales, human resources, marketing, it and so on. Dr. Xu Feng, a senior member of IEEE and a professor at the school of information science and engineering of Fudan University, said: "the advantage of robot labor is that it can help humans complete dangerous tasks, such as working in extreme environments such as underground, underwater and wild." Such views have also been widely recognized by respondents: according to the survey results of this year, respondents believe that robot applications can be more helpful to humans in the three fields of manufacturing and assembly industry (33%), hospital and patient care (26%) and earth and space exploration (13%).

Network security is still the biggest hidden danger, and blockchain will become a reliable solution

The hybrid office mode combining remote and offline has become the general trend. More than half (51%) of the global respondents said that due to the needs of telecommuting and mixed office mode, the number of devices needed to link and manage during office, including smart phones, tablets, sensors, robots and UAVs, increased by 1.5 times in 2021; 49% of the respondents believed that the trend of mixed office would continue in 2022.

Therefore, 83% of respondents believe that maintaining network security under mixed office mode will be the biggest challenge in 2022; Among them, They believe that the most worrying network security risks are the security of employees working with personal devices (39%) and cloud vulnerabilities (35%), followed by data center vulnerabilities and network collaborative attacks. Blockchain technology is expected to become a reliable solution to this difficult problem because of its decentralized and tamper proof characteristics. Respondents believe that blockchain technology will be able to realize machine-to-machine interaction, cargo tracking and contactless digital transactions in the Internet of things, as well as the privacy of cloud health and medical records in 2022 Play an important role in security.

As the above important technologies are more applied to the operation and management of enterprises, the vast majority of respondents (92%) said that their enterprises' emergency response ability (such as responding to data leakage or natural disasters) has also been better improved than a year ago.
