A few days ago, China Patent Protection Association released the report on global authorized patents in the field of blockchain in 2020.

The report shows that Alipay has authorized the number of patents in the 212 block chain, ranking first in the world and second, third in IBM (136 pieces) and Coinplug (107 pieces).

It is understood that this is the first time that an authoritative organization has published a report on the number of authorized patents of global blockchain. Based on Derwent innovation search, this report analyzes the overall innovation trend of blockchain from the public patents that have been authorized.

According to industry insiders, authorized patents mean that they have passed the preliminary examination, disclosure and substantive examination, which can better reflect the "gold content" of enterprise technology, and have the representativeness and typicality to measure the industry's technological progress and enterprise's R & D strength.

Statistics show that as of May 14, 2020, there are 3924 authorized patents in the field of blockchain in the world, of which the United States has the largest number of patents, accounting for 39%, followed by South Korea with 21%, and China ranks third with 19%.

In addition, the report will include more than 100 authorized patented persons as the first tier, including Alibaba (Alipay), IBM and Coinplug from Korea. Patentees with 30-100 authorized patents were reported as the second echelon, including Accenture of the United States, Bank of America, Tencent of China, etc.
