Roel C. Campos

Member of U.S. Presidential Intelligence Advisory Board

 

Roel Campos is a partner in Locke Lord’s Washington, D.C. office and National Chair of the firm’s Securities Regulation and Enforcement group.

 

Mr. Campos' practice consists of advising and defending corporate management teams and boards of directors with respect to enforcement, internal investigations, prosecutions, securities and international regulation and corporate governance. He regularly serves as lead speaker for prestigious legal and business conferences around the globe and is on President Barack Obama's Presidential Intelligence Advisory Board.

 

A former Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Campos spent four years as the SEC’s liaison to the international regulatory community and Mr. Campos’ prior careers as a Texas businessman, a U.S. Air Force officer and a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles give him a unique perspective on legal matters. He has presided over hundreds of complex enforcement cases and has prosecuted violent narcotics cartels and became one of the best-known regulators in the world. As the Vice Chair of the Technical Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissioners, he developed productive relationships with securities regulators in Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America and also helped develop international auditing and accounting standards through his work as Chair of the Monitoring Group, which oversees the setting of International Standards of Audit. 

 

In recent years, Mr. Campos has devoted most of his time and efforts in restoring good reputation of Chinese companies in America, fighting rumors and false information from short sellers in the U.S, training and advising Chinese executives to be successful in listing in the U.S.

 

Mr. Campos’ prior careers as a Texas businessman, a U.S. Air Force officer and a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles give him a unique perspective on legal matters. He has presided over hundreds of complex enforcement cases and has prosecuted violent narcotics cartels and major government contractors. He participated in the crafting and adoption of many of the SEC's recent major regulatory initiatives, including: the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, mutual fund governance and compliance rules, and the new National Market System.
